I’m all about romanticising my daily life at every opportunity, taking the smallest moments and turning them into something beautiful. Because just what am I rushing towards? There is only the now, so I make a concerted effort to slow down and enjoy concocting little stolen moments from the mundane.

So how do you go from trudging about your day, to filling it full of wonder and delight? Simply by a shift in your perspective, a kind of mindfulness, a way of looking at life with gratitude in your eyes. You can either let life just happen to you, or you can empower yourself to make it into something magical.

Simple morning intention ritual.

Make your morning hot drink, it doesn’t have to be herbal, just tea or coffee will do.

Find a special spoon, maybe its an unusual design, maybe it was your mothers or grandmothers.

Stir sunwise to attract something into your life.

Stir widdershins to release something.

Now stir and speak your intention…perhaps peace and purpose or calm and clarity. Hold in both hands and then blow gently once, to seal the intention in.

Now stand by an open door or window, acknowledge the waking world and sip your magical morning cup.

Try to notice and appreciate the things that make you feel alive. For me these things come from the natural world, the wafting evening scent of a honeysuckle, the sun sinking into the sea or swifts screaming their summer delight as they swoop overhead.

The never ending delight is the magic, that we will each have different things that make us feel happy. They don’t require you to rush out and buy anything new, but to simply look around and be grateful. Stop adulting, let yourself play and make little pleasures in your day.

Try to look at life though a lens of gratitude, that you are fortunate to be given another day, so make it as lovely as your imagination can create.

Daily gratitude

No matter what is going on outside of us, there is always something to be grateful for….

Another day full of experiences to enjoy and learn from

Laughter with loved ones

Quiet moments to calm your mind

A good nights sleep

Being able to spend time in nature

And the list goes on….. say it, write it, believe it, live it.

Good medicine….

Gratitude shifts your mind

Nature soothes your soul

Journaling clears your mind

Music lifts your spirit

Silence calms your thoughts

Deep breathing slows your heart

Creativity awakens your energy

Connections nurtures your heart

Rest restores your clarity

Learning expands your vision

Smiling brightens your mind

Walking balances your energy

Water refreshes your body

Letting go frees your spirit

The triskele is an ancient symbol dating back over 5000 years and is carved into the entrance stone at Newgrange in Ireland.

It symbolises many things

Birth, life and death,

Past, present and future,

Land, sea and sky,

Mind, body and spirit.

It conveys a continuous spiritual evolution, flow, and forward momentum .

Smiling is magic itself. It holds a secret in it’s ability to act as a feedback loop, where the physical act of smiling (even when you don’t feel it), signals the brain to release dopamine, serotonin and endorphins that lower your cortisol.

Always give yourself a proper big smile when you look in a mirror and tell yourself you look amazing, why wouldn’t you?

Perhaps try making everyday cooking a journey to be savoured and not a chore to be rushed (this can be applied to many things we consider chores).

You might cook a dish or meal from scratch, enjoying shopping for the ingredients (make it an adventure), the feel of them in preparation. And of course there is the delight of eating of home prepared food, especially if there are good flavours and textures. Eat by candlelight (even if you’re on your own) to take it up a further notch.

Refreshing your home energy.

Use your favourite incense and walk from room to room saying something along the lines of…

…bless this room, fill it full of love and laughter, health and wealth, good fortune, creativity, prosperity and abundance, smiles, warmth, companionship. Bless this house, all who dwell within and all who visit.

“The goal is to wake up every morning feeling overwhelmingly grateful for the life you have created for yourself.”

Today…..

I will breathe before I begin

I will move through tasks not chase them

I will listen deeper than I speak

I will slow when I want to rush

I will find beauty in the ordinary

I will live like my time truly belongs me.
